Abstract

This Decree, consisting of five Chpaters divided into 77 articles and one Annex, provides for the Ecological and Economic Zoning of the Northern Coastal Sector. It establishes the norms of use and occupation of the soil and the related natural resources management to be observed in each of the zones and subareas involved. This Ecological and Economic Zoning covers the Municipalities of: Ubatuba, Caraguatatuba, Ilhabela and São Sebastião. The Ecological and Economic Zoning referred to in State Law No. 10.019 of 3 July 1998, is officially mapped by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). This Zoning encompasses terrestrial, marine and transitional ecosystems, and due to their special characteristics, transitional ecosystems may have their own norms, guidelines and goals established either in the Terrestrial Zoning (ZT), in the Marine Zoning (ZM), or both.
