Abstract This Decree approves the Regulation of Law No. 8.014/1984 on agricultural soil preservation within the State of Paraná. This Regulation (in Annex), consisting of 25 articles divided into seven Chapters, establishes the requirements and procedures to be applied for agricultural soil preservation within the State of Paraná. Chapter II deals with the agricultural land policy and its objectives, norms, procedures and actions initiated by the public power, aiming at the maintenance and recovery of the productive potential of the agricultural soil. This set of measures applies to aspects related to the physical, chemical, biological and spatial characteristics of the agricultural soil, aiming to curb all the causes of its degradation and productive unfeasibility, and must take into account: a) the understanding of the planning and action unit, rural property, micro-basin or region; b) the integration and diversification of animal and plant activities; (c) the rational use of locally available inputs; d) the search for energy and ecological self-sustainability; e) the rational use of forest resources, aiming at their sustainable management.
