Abstract

This Decree establishes that hypodermatosis of cattle is a chronic dangerous disease of cattle caused by subcutaneous gadflies, larvae of which for a long time, within 6-9 months, parasitize in the body, traumatize vital organs, tissues and skin of animals, causing a decrease in milk and meat productivity. Bovine cattle are parasitized by the common subcutaneous gadfly (line) Hypoderma bovis de Geer and the southern subcutaneous gadfly (esophagus) Hypoderma lineatum de Villers. Cattle is the only species that is the only locus of subcutaneous gadflies. Diagnosis for hypodermatosis is made on the basis of examination and palpation of the animal's skin in places of larvae aggregation of stages II and III of subcutaneous gadflies on the back from the crest to the sacrum. During the peak of invasion from March to June, it is not recommended to carry out planned slaughter of clinically ill animals with hypodermatosis. Forced slaughter of sick animals is carried out at the slaughterhouse, and in its absence - on the general conveyor after slaughter of healthy animals. Veterinary and sanitary expertise of meat and other slaughter products is carried out according to the rules of veterinary inspection of slaughter animals and veterinary and sanitary expertise of meat and meat products. Tissues affected by larvae are removed and disposed of. Carcasses from diseased stock shall be sent for industrial processing. Organizations and citizens of the Russian Federation - owners of animals are obliged: (a) to carry out economic and veterinary measures to prevent the occurrence of animals infected with hypodermatosis; (b) to provide veterinary specialists, upon their request, with inspection and anti-gadfly treatment; (c) to follow the instructions of veterinary specialists in the field of veterinary medicine on the implementation of measures to prevent and combat hypodermatosis; (d) to provide information on newly acquired animals upon request of veterinary specialists; and (e) to ensure the implementation of these Rules.
