Abstract

The Regulation on the procedure for monitoring, evaluation and reporting forms of measures to combat land degradation, as well as publishing their results, provides for the following: (a) the procedure for organizing monitoring of measures to combat land degradation and receiving reports; (b) procedure for publishing the results of measures to combat land degradation; and (c) procedure for using materials on land degradation, desertification and drought, and measures taken to combat it. The Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Ministry of Digital Technologies, shall develop the "Land Degradation" geo-information portal on the basis of the integrated unified information system of the Ministry of Agriculture in order to create an information base related to land degradation, drought and desertification, measures to combat them, by June 1, 2023 and put it into practice. This Regulation is aimed at mitigating the negative consequences of land degradation, global climate change, drought and desertification, maintaining, increasing and restoring soil fertility on agricultural land, providing information exchange between ministries and agencies in this regard, and combating degradation. determines the procedure for carrying out activities, developing report forms and publishing their results. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in order to maintain a unified state policy in the field of combating the processes of land degradation, to develop state programs and prospective strategies for combating the processes of land degradation, shall coordinate the activities of ministries and agencies participating in their implementation. The responsible ministries and agencies regularly enter information on land degradation and measures to combat it into the electronic map of the "Land Degradation Geoinformation System" (based on layers and attributes). These data are included in the WGS-84 coordinate system on the basis of uniform classifications in accordance with the regulations approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the results of monitoring and soil research, the level of degradation of land areas is estimated as follows: land structure intact (ETB); disturbed by anthropogenic influence (ATB); not degraded (DU); weakly degraded (KzD); medium degraded (O'D); strongly degraded (KD); highly degraded (O'KD). In the digital maps of the "Land Degradation Geo-Information System", the degraded lands are separated according to the above assessment levels and displayed with the appropriate colors and conventional symbols.
