Abstract

This Decree approves the Regulation of Licensing and Supervision of Radioactive Installations and Sources of Ionizing Radiation. The Regulation establishes the legal framework for licensing and monitoring activities involving the safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy or ionizing radiation, with a view to protecting people, goods and the environment against exposure to ionizing radiation and to the safety from radioactive sources and nuclear material. It applies to natural and legal persons subject to licensing and supervision of activities or practices involving the safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy or ionizing radiation. Activities or practices include, in particular: design, manufacture, construction, calibration, commissioning, decommissioning, import, export, transport, distribution, sale, loan, service, use, operation, maintenance, repair, transfer, scrapping or detection of sources of ionizing radiation for medical, industrial, veterinary, agricultural, education, training and research purposes. Licensing and supervising nuclear fuel cycle activities is a matter of separate Regulations.
