Abstract This Decree approves the Statute of the State Environmental Foundation (FEAM). This Statute, consisting of 46 articles divided into nine Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of FEAM, entitled to develop and implement public policies related to climate change, renewable energy, air quality, soil quality and the management of water liquid effluents and solid waste. Its specific duties are: promote the application of environmental management instruments; propose indicators and evaluate the environmental quality and effectiveness of policies to protect the environment; develop, coordinate, support and encourage studies, research projects and actions, individually or jointly with public and private entities, with the objective of promoting modernization and technological innovation in the sectors of industry, mining, tourism, agriculture, livestock and infrastructure, with emphasis on the rational use of environmental resources and renewable energy sources; provide the necessary technical support to the organs and entities that are part of the Sisema in the environmental regularization processes and within their scope of action; propose, establish and promote the application of norms regarding the conservation, preservation and recovery of environmental resources and the control of activities and ventures considered effective or potentially polluting or capable of causing environmental degradation in any way with federal, state and municipal agencies and entities.
