Abstract This Decree regulates the forestry policy within the State of Goiás. It consists of 13 Chapters and 1 annex establishing the conditions to be satisfied in order to perform a sustainable exploitation of forestry areas according to the provisions on wildlife protection and ecosystem preservation. The main objectives of this Decree concern the implementation of: protected areas, protection of endangered forest trees and biodiversity, management and sustainable exploitation of forestry resources (including requirements for obtaining a licence), promotion of forestry seeds and reforestation programme, etc. Sanctions for illegal activity are specified in Chapter 10 and listed in annex according to the different forestry infraction.
