Abstract

This Decree, consisting of 51 articles divided into eight Chapters and several model forms, establishes the Regulation for Animal Health Protection Policy. The State Secretariat of Agriculture (SEAG) is responsible for establishing, coordinating and supervising the State Animal Health Protection Programme, whose actions will be carried out by its executing agency, aiming at the prevention, control and eradication of animal diseases, which interfere in public health, in the environment or in the economy of the State. SEAG is also responsible for the inspection of the sale of products for veterinary use and livestock inputs and other activities attributed to it. Animal Health Protection is understood as the set of prevention, control and eradication actions for animal diseases conducted through programmes that will be established by duly planned normative acts, executed by the articulation of the different sectors involved and evaluated accordingly. The programme will be established through a normative act of the SEAG and must contain the projects to be executed. The Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Protection of Espírito Santo (IDAF), is the executing agency of this Policy and responsible for creating veterinary units and/or sub-units, providing the ideal conditions necessary for the perfect execution of animal protection programmes or specific projects established by the Secretariat of State for Agriculture-SEAG.
