Abstract

The Cabinet of Ministers, in order to improve the efficient use of forestland, to plant the plantations of kiri (Paulownia imperialis) and other fast-growing trees in the country, to increase the productivity of trees, to form quality programs for the construction and reconstruction of protected areas, to improve the environment, to reduce import of timber, decrees as follows: (a) to plant kiri (Paulownia imperialis) on forest fund land, on the edges of agricultural land under crops, parks, inhabited areas and in the protection zones of the riverbanks; (b) to approve the proposals on the establishment of the Ishtikhan state forestry in Samarkand region for the purpose of expansion of forest areas, cultivation of kiri (Paulownia imperialis) and other fast-growing tree species; (c) to plant protection forests of kiri (Paulownia imperialis) for the prevention of wind erosion of irrigated land; and (d) to recommend the Association of Beekeepers of Uzbekistan to establish cooperation with forestry organizations on the production of quality honey in the plantations of kiri (Paulownia imperialis) and other fast-growing trees.
