Abstract This Decree promulgates the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, of March 29, 1996, with reservation to art. XI, paragraph 1 c. The purposes of this Convention are: l. To promote and strengthen the development by each of the States Parties of the mechanisms necessary to prevent, detect, punish and eradicate corruption; and 2. to promote, facilitate and regulate cooperation among the States Parties in order to ensure the effectiveness of measures and actions adopted to prevent, detect, punish and eradicate corruption in the exercise of public functions, as well as acts of corruption specifically related to their exercise.
