Abstract

This Decree creates the Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve for the preservation and protection of marine and coastal species and their habitats, with an area of 678 km2. Within the geographical limits of the Reserve (detailed in the text) and without prejudice to other restrictions and prohibitions provided for in the applicable legislation, the practice of the activities listed below is prohibited: a) Semi-industrial and industrial fishing; b) Catching or fishing with any fishing gear, species on coral reefs; c) Fishing with dynamite or other method or harmful substances; d) Fishing of any species protected by law; e) Driving any motorized vehicle along the beach; f) Construction of any type of infrastructure, except shelters for artisanal fisheries.
