Abstract This Decree, composed of 5 articles, defines the expressions "cachaça", "Brasil" and "cachaça do Brasil" as geographical product protected indication. The aforesaid beverage shall maintain the protected denomination only if produced accordingly to the National legislation on the classification, production and control of beverages and if produced within the Country. The Decree compels the Chamber for Foreign Trade to adopt the use of Geographical indications.
