Abstract

The present Regulation consists of 12 Sections dealing with the following matters: 1) general provisions (sect. 1); 2) selection of samples for quality control and veterinary and sanitary expertise of fish and fish products (sect. 2); 3) veterinary and sanitary expertise of fish and fish products in the presence of infectious, invasive and non-infectious diseases (sect. 3); 4) veterinary and sanitary expertise of frozen fish (sect. 4); 5) veterinary and sanitary expertise of cooled fish (sect. 5); 6) veterinary and sanitary expertise of salted fish; 7) veterinary and sanitary expertise of smoked fish (sect. 7); 8) veterinary and sanitary expertise of stockfish and dried fish (sect. 8); 9) veterinary and sanitary expertise of caviar (sect. 9); 10) veterinary and sanitary expertise of crayfish (sect. 10); 11) veterinary and sanitary expertise of canned fish and fish preserves (sect. 11); 12) methods of veterinary and sanitary expertise of fish and fish products (sect. 12). The present Regulation establishes the veterinary and sanitary requirements for carrying out veterinary and sanitary control of fish traded on the internal market. All species of freshwater fishes, marine fishes and fish products supplied to traders in lots or as single specimen shall be subject to veterinary and sanitary expertise on the basis of which the decision shall be made as regards the modalities of the utilization thereof: 1) for common use; 2) with restrictions (processing at the industrial enterprises); 3) recycling or destruction. Only high quality fish products certified by the organoleptical study and laboratory testing shall be authorized for sale to the population for the nutrition. The directors of the markets must provide for recycling and destruction of fish products recognized as unfit for nutrition. The selection of samples of fishes and fish products shall be carried out by the veterinary expert in the following cases: 1) inconsistency of the quality certificate; 2) exposure of the spoilage of fishes and fish products during the transportation; 3) claim for replacement by the consumers; 4) regular inspection of markets by the state authority for supervision and certification; 5) the presence of infectious and invasive fish diseases in the water bodies.
