Abstract The Decree prohibits fishing by vessels flying the flag of Norway in fishery zones of Greenland (ICES areas Va, XII and XIV and NAFO subarea 1) in 2002. However quotas of halibut (200 tons), Greenland halibut (1.400 tons), red fishes (3.975 tons) and some other demersal species may be caught in fishing areas of West and East Greenland. Group quotas for trawlers are specified for each area. Articles 5 and 6 concern allocation of catch quotas for single vessels. Other provisions deal with report to the Director of Fisheries (art. 7), compulsory sailing dates to be established for fishing in East Greenland with conventional gear for Greenland halibut (15 June) and halibut (15 July) and fishing with trawlers (15 September)(art. 8), redistribution of quotas (art. 9), a stop on fishing (art. 10), and offences and penalties (art. 11).
