Abstract This Decree approves the Regulation of the Animal Sanitary Protection Service. This Regulation, consisting of 9 Chapters, establishes that the Animal Sanitary Protection Service is the competent authority to implement prophylaxis measures, in order to preserve the country from the invasion of exotic zoonoses and fight against infectious and contagious diseases as well as existing parasites within the National territory. It prohibits the entrance in the National territory of sick animals or suspected to be infected of any disease, directly or indirectly transmissible. In addition, it prescribes necessary measures to avoid animal diseases and requirements to be met to import animals from abroad.
