Article 1 subjects the industrial enterprises and installations established in the Special Economic Zone in Tripoli to all health and environmental conditions and requirements imposed by the General Authority for the Managgement of the Special Economic Zone. Articles 2 to 4 deal with tasks of the General Authority, in particular to: control and monitor constructions and equipment in the Zone to ensure the compliance with environmental and health standards and requirements; keep watch on the protection of the environment by legal and natural persons and respect provisions of the Environmental Protection Act No. 444 of 2002; cooperate with the Ministry of Environment to take measures for the prevention and control of pollution; and, apply provisions of Law No. 64 of 1988 relating to the importation, production, extraction, conversion, marketing, transport, possession, use and destruction of harmful and hazardous chemical substances.
