Abstract

This Decree, consisting of 16 articles, regulates the Information System on Water Resources of the Federal District. This Information System aims at the collection, treatment, storage and retrieval of information on water resources (such as: atmospheric, surface and underground waters) to be organized accordingly. The information will be made available mainly by entities of the Water Resources Council of the Federal District, and by their respective bodies. The basic principles for the operation of the Information System on Water Resources of the Federal District are: decentralization of the collection and production of data and information; unified coordination of the system; access to data and information for the whole society. The objectives of the Information System are: gather, give consistency and disseminate information on the quantitative and qualitative data on water resources in the Federal District; permanently update information on availability and demand of water resources in the Federal District; provide subsidies for the elaboration of the Integrated Water Resources Management Plan, based on the Plans of Hydrographic Basins.
