Abstract

This Decree of the Prime Minister of France, having regard to amended Act No. 71-1060 of 24 December 1971 concerning the delimitation of French territorial waters, defines the baselines from which the breadth of the French territorial sea in the North Sea, the Channel, the Atlantic and Mediterranean is measured. The low-water line of the low-tide elevations situated wholly or partly at a distance not exceeding the breadth of the territorial sea from mainland France shall be used to determine the baseline from which the breadth of the territorial sea adjacent to mainland France is measured. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development, the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of the Interior, and the Secretary of State for Transport, the Sea and Fisheries, shall be responsible, within their respective mandates, for the implementation of the present Decree.
