Abstract

This Decree applies to fishing by vessels of the Faeroe Islands north respectively south of 62nd parallel in the Nor regain Economic zone between 12 and 200 nautical miles calculated from the baseline of Norway. The vessels concerned are allowed to fish in total 1.951 tons of Norwegian arctic cod, 1.460 tons of Norwegian arctic haddock, 1.505 tons of mackerel and 1 500 tons of arctic haddock and some bycatch north of the 62nd parallel. The Decree specifies also catch quotas allocated by the Russian Federation to the Faeroe Islands: 2.300 of Norwegian arctic cod, 300 and 300 tons of other species including blue halibut, coalfish and redfish. A further 7.860 tons of mackerel may be fished as part of the national quota for Faeroe. Bycatch of Greenland halibut may be maximum 10 percent and redfish 25 percent. Fishing with small mesh trawls is prohibited in specified areas. Chapter III establishes quotas for catch fished south of 62° N. Remaining provisions allow Norwegian vessels to catch 12.107 tons of blue whiting of the national quota of Faeroe in the Norwegian Economic Zone and the Fisheries Zone of Jan Mayen and regulate other fishing.
