Abstract This Decree regulates the construction, exploitation and management of waterworks. The National Council of Waters (CNAG) establishes that private waterworks pertain to the relevant landowner. Public waterworks users are not subject to pay a fee. Construction of important waterworks must be authorized by the CNAG; water use needs an authorization as well. This Decree lays down the requirements to be satisfied in order to use water resources. Execution of authorized waterworks must follow technical regulation established by the competent public institution (for every different work) and approved by the CNAG. It also concerns studies and projects to be carried out on waterworks construction and water uses. Full text Portuguese
