The Ministry performs the following functions: (a) studies, analyzes and evaluates the living standards of the population; develops measures ensuring stabilization and improvement of living standards of the population on the basis of income policy formation; together with relevant ministries and departments, preparing proposals on minimum wages, allowances and scholarships; (b) develops methodological recommendations for the calculation of the minimum subsistence level of various socio-demographic groups of the population, carries out its calculation, as well as the expertise of the minimum subsistence level calculations; (c) participates in the preparation of the draft General Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Association of Employers of Tajikistan and representatives of employees, submits proposals for action plan to implement the aforesaid agreement; (d) develops proposals to improve the remuneration system for employees under tariff agreements and collective employment agreements; (e) performs state administration of industrial safety (labour protection) and coordinates the work of ministries and departments in this regard.
