This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Decree, consisting of 32 articles divided into 6 Chapters and one Annex, approves the basic structure of the State Agency for Animal and Plant Health Protection. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned State Agency, linked to the Secretariat of State for Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture and supervised by it under Law No. 4.640 of 24 December 2014. The State Agency for Animal and Plant Health Protection aims to: I - implement public education, health and inspection policies in order to promote the maintenance of animal and plant health and the quality of its products and by-products, through sanitary defense, control and inspection of products and by-products of agricultural origin, inspection of agricultural inputs and biosafety activities, to ensure human health. II - comply with and enforce the operational obligations delegated by the Executive Branch, which deals with the legislation regarding the protection of animal and plant health and the control and inspection of agricultural products, goods and services, processes and technologies achieved by the care system to Agricultural and Livestock health.
