Abstract This Decree, consisting of 31 articles divided into six Chapters and three Annexes, approves the Classification of Dulombi National Park. Without prejudice to the provisions of the Framework Law on Protected Areas, the objectives of the Park are, namely: a) Ensure the preservation, conservation and protection of the environmental assets in the Park; b) Protect and conserve outstanding and exceptional natural resouces and their peculiarities, the landscape and its natural heritage, ecosystems, species and genetic resources; c) Preserve, conserve, protect and recover the most representative ecosystems and main habitats, especially those used by rare and threatened species as breeding, feeding, growing sites, corridors or places of access to water; d) Promote the orderly use of the territory and the rational use of natural resources in order to guarantee the management of essential ecological processes and reduce and/or eliminate sources of pressure on natural resources; e) Protect rare and endangered animal and plant species and their habitats; f) Promote the sustainable management of the area's resources in collaboration with local communities; g) Ensure the preservation of wetlands, especially rivers and “Wendos” and their ecological functions, and monitor human activities related to their use; h) Valuing and promoting knowledge, sociocultural practices and local traditional cultural heritage compatible with conservation; i) Provide the socio-economic and cultural development of the populations in these areas, with their participation, respecting the environment and traditions of populations; j) Promote a place for study and scientific exchanges, focused on the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems; k) Establish a participatory system for monitoring, following up and managing natural resources; and l) Promote ecotourism.
