Abstract

This Decree prescribes hygiene requirements and provides for control in relation with the production, storage, transportation, supply and offering for sale of rabbit meat. "Rabbit meat" is defined as all parts of a rabbit fit for human consumption. For other definitions section 2 refers to Decree No. 265 of 1995 concerning poultry meat. Chapter I further contains general conditions for the approval of meat and approval of activities regulated by the present Decree by the National Food Authority. Chapter II specifies requirements regarding activities including cold storage. Chapter III provides for the control of rabbit meat including ante-mortem control. Chapter IIIa makes provision for marking of meat produced in Norway. Chapter IIIa prescribes requirements for meat imported from third countries in the EAA area. Chapter IV contains provisions of administrative nature such as appeal against decisions and the carrying out of control by controlling veterinarians. (23 sections)
