Abstract This Decree regulates articles 15, and 19-21 of New Forestry Code (Act No. 4.771). It consists of 27 articles concerning the requirements to be satisfied for forests' exploitation and management. It defines protected areas, listing all involved States, prohibiting forest exploitation (such as forests in which native people live, primordial forests of Amazon river basin, etc.). This Decree also specifies other types of exploitation of forests. This Decree prescribes, under the competence of Brazilian Institute for Environment - Ibama, controls, fees and sanction for offenders.
