The main tasks of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service shall be: 1) participation in the implementation of the state policy for the ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, safety of the environment for human life and health; 2) elaboration of the immediate arrangements for the prophylaxis of radioactive contamination and the prevention of hazardous environmental impact on human health. The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service shall have the following functions: 1) the state sanitary and epidemiological expertise issuing the respective sanitary certificates; 2) testing, expertise and study of the atmospheric air, water, soil; 3) hygienic procedures and the state registration of disinfection means and foodstuffs for special dietary use; 4) organization of the sanitary procedures for the prevention of the introduction and spreading of dangerous quarantine and infectious diseases; 5) sanitary procedures for food safety control and direction of the National Commission of Codex Alimentarius.
