Abstract This Decree regulates toxic wastes importation licensing. It consists of 9 articles and 3 annexes establishing the requirements to be satisfied in order to import dangerous wastes (included in the list contained in Annex I) and that they can be imported only on the prior authorization of the Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (IBAMA). Any enterprise that imports materials must: register with IBAMA, using the appropriate form, an example of which is contained in Annex II; use of appropriate techniques, comply with national and international regulations on packaging and transportation and comply with the conditions laid down by federal state legislation.
