This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Decree creates the Interministerial Committee for the Coordination, Planning and Follow-up of Actions for the Protection of Indigenous Lands. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Committee entitled for proposing measures to implement the right of indigenous peoples to the exclusive use of their territories, respecting the principle of intercultural dialogue, in particular in the sense of: prevent illegal occupation of indigenous lands; guarantee the protection of life and physical integrity of local indigenous leaders; contribute to police authorities in activities to prevent and repress criminal activities within indigenous territories; collaborate with intelligence work to identify threats, pressures and vulnerabilities that may have an impact on the territory; build a communication plan aimed at non-indigenous people to be affected by removal actions; and plan actions to protect indigenous lands unduly occupied by non-indigenous people.
