Abstract

This Decree establishes that packaging material and equipment used in food industry shall have sanitary certification. Materials used for packaging and transportation of foodstuffs and alimentary raw materials shall comply with the following requirements: (a) not alter nutritional value and quality of foodstuffs; (b) not to cause toxicity of foodstuffs; and (c) to prevent contamination of foodstuffs for the whole period of transportation and storage. Any direct contact of foodstuffs with paint-coated or stamped side of label shall be avoided. The use of recycled paper for packaging shall be prohibited. The Decree contains the list of specific materials authorized and prohibited for packaging.
