This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

The Policy on sustainable development aims at the reduction of social and territorial inequalities, with special attention to improving the quality and equity in the community life, formulating and executing plans, projects and actions at the municipal level. The guidelines and definitions set out in the Sustainable Development Plan (PDS) will be embodied in sustainable development policy. The guidelines established should already be considered as plans, projects and actions of the municipality. The following Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS) are part of Rio de Janeiro's development policy and must be observed in the definition of municipal public policies: ODS1. End poverty; ODS2. Zero hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture; ODS3. Ensure a healthy life and promote well-being; ODS4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education; ODS5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; ODS6. Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation; ODS7. Ensure reliable, sustainable, modern and affordable access to energy; ODS8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work; ODS9. Build resilient infrastructures, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; ODS10. Reduce inequality within and between countries; ODS11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, secure, resilient and sustainable development; ODS12. Ensure sustainable production and consumption patterns; ODS13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts; ODS14. Conservation and sustainable use of marine resources; ODS15. Protect, recover and promote the sustainable use of ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, fight desertification, stop and reverse land degradation and the loss of biodiversity; ODS16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development; ODS17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
