Abstract This Decree of the Ministry of Environment, which is composed of six articles and four Annexes, provides details on a preliminary assessment of flood risk, review and update of this assessment. Basis for the preparation of a preliminary assessment of flood risk are: (a) summary reports on floods, their consequences and taken measures; (b) the interim report on the flood situation; (c) records on observations of water levels in water stations; (d) measuring rainfall precipitation and information about water in the period before the flood and during flood; (e) flood plans; (f) Water Plan of Slovakia and river basin management plans; (g) scientific and technical projects, research projects, studies and hydrogeological surveys; (h) regional climate change scenarios for Slovakia; (i) landscaping projects; (j) land use plans for regions, cities and areas, (k) programs for forests; (l) other materials and documents which may be useful for preliminary flood risk assessment.
