Abstract This Decree-Law, composed of seven articles and one Annex, approves the General Regulation on Noise. The annexed Regulation is composed of five Chapters divided in 24 articles and two annexes. It rules on the regime of prevention and control of noise pollution, with the primary aim of protecting human health. The Regulation applies to both permanent and temporary noisy activities as well as other noise sources. The Regulation identifies the basic principles, the protection and planning competences at central and local levels. Particular attention is paid to municipal plans of noise reduction and control. The Regulation provides limit values to noise exposure and licensing procedures. Moreover, it regulates monitoring and control procedures. Full text Portuguese
