Abstract

This Decree-Law, consisting of 107 articles divided into eleven Chapters, aims to update the legal regime for agricultural waterworks, approved by Decree-Law No. 269/82 on three fundamental axes: 1. ensuring the use of the works for the purposes for which they were built; 2. respecting the integrity of the hydro-agricultural perimeters; and 3. establishing an appropriate management model. Waterworks are classified into the following four groups: Group I - works of national interest aiming at a profound transformation of the agricultural exploitation conditions of a vast region; Group II - works of regional interest with high interest for the agricultural development of the region; Group III - works of local interest with a high collective impact; Group IV - other collective works of local interest.
