Abstract

This Decree-Law defines the Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre for Maritime Zone G, installed in Cape Verde, and approves the respective Statute and Staff, created by the Republic of Cape Verde, the Gambia, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, the Republic of Mali and the Republic of Senegal, through the Protocol No. A/P.3/07/18, signed in Lomé on 31 July 2018. The Centre develops its activity in Zone G, in synergy with Zones E and F, under the operational coordination of CRESMAO. Within the limits of the space defined for the actions of the Centre, the Member States of Zone G: a) Enjoy their sovereign prerogatives regarding the State’s actions at sea; b) Mutually authorize freedom of movement in maritime airspace; and c) Agree that navigators may board their vessels and exchange their personnel for patrols and inspections. Ships, aircraft and vessels operating within the scope of the Centre's activities must, in addition to the national flag, display the ECOWAS emblem. The Statute establishes mission, duties, organization, operating rules and personnel, financial and asset regimes of the Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre of Zone G.
