Abstract

This Decree-Law, consisting of 25 articles, establishes the legal regime applicable to forest sapper and their teams in the Portuguese mainland and defines related public support. This Decree-Law reinforces the role of forest sapper teams in the context of forest policy measures, aiming at establishing coherence between the activity carried out by them, the forest protection measures and actions established in the Strategy The National Forest Plan and the National Forest Fire Protection Plan. The creation of forest sapper teams, and their activity, are developed within the framework of a national forest sapper program, oriented towards the forest protection and defense objectives established in the National Forest Fire Protection Plan and in the National Strategy for Forests.
