Entry into force notes
This Decree-Law enters into force 5 days after its publication.
Abstract

This Decree-Law, consisting of 20 Chapters, establishes the legal regime of license and concession for water resources use. It applies for all activities related to: potable and treated water production, including transport, processing, storage and desalinization. Water supply, including distribution and selling re-used waters for public uses, in particular for industry and agriculture. Collecting services, effluent treatment and re-use, including rain water. It specifies that Basic Water Sanitation Services must satisfy following objectives and principles: Guaranteeing safe water supply, including water re-usable and sanitation services; Respecting the long-term management of water resources, of the use of National territory, avoiding over exploitation of the resources and preventing desertification phenomena; Promoting a better efficiency in water supply and collecting services, treatment and re-use of liquid effluents, etc.
