Abstract This Decree-Law, consisting of 6 Chapters, implements the Council Directive 1999/22/EC and approves the Regulation (in the Annex) on the keeping of wild animals in zoologic parks. The Regulation deals with the following matters: Animal welfare and management (Chap. I), Zoo facilities and transport (Chap. II), Management of animal collection (Chap. III), Pedagogic and scientific activities (Chap. IV), Registration of animals (Chap. V). The Regulation also deals with authorization for zoological parks and enclosed areas, protection of denomination, penalties and transitional provisions.
