Abstract This Decree-Law establishes the sixth amendment to Decree-Law No. 311/99, amended and republished by Decree-Law no. 61/2014, of 23 April which creates the Fund Salaries Compensation for Professional Fisheries. Amendments establish that is under the Fund's responsibility to provide financial support of a social nature to fisheries professionals when they are temporarily prevented from carrying out their activity in accordance with the provisions of this law. The total immobilization of fishing vessels accompanied by the impossibility of the maritime registry to carry on its activity, which results in no remuneration, constitutes the basis for the issuing of a salary compensation, provided due to: prohibition of fishing for preserving or managing the resources, reasons of public health or environmental protection, with a minimum duration of eight consecutive days.
