Abstract This Decree-Law, consisting of 22 articles divided into four Chapters, creates the Council for Final Delimitation of Maritime Boundaries (CDDFM). Under article 6 of Law no. 6/2010 of 12 May on International Treaties, it establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Council, entitled to: a) define the conditions and objectives of the negotiation of a treaty for the definitive delimitation of the regional borders with the Commonwealth of Australia and with the Republic of Indonesia; b) follow the negotiation process led by the Negotiating Team Leader; c) provide information on the negotiation process to groups with political responsibilities, with a view to ensuring national cohesion concerning the definitive delimitation of regional borders; d) the pursuit of any other attributions conferred by the Government.
