This Decree-Law enters into force on the date of its publication.
Abstract

This Decree-Law approves the Statute of the Ministry for Environment and Urban Planning. Under the Decree-Law No. 6/08 of 10 November establishing the new government structure, this Statute, composed of four chapters divided in 31 articles, defines the composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry, entitled to perform the following activities: promote studies on the state of regional planning with a view to formulating proposals for legislative and regulatory policies; promote the preparation of studies and to supervise the implementation of projects in the field of spatial planning and urban planning; promote the urban and rural requalification and environmental valorization of the cities, as well as the monitoring of environmental variables in the urban environment, in collaboration with the competent organisms; ensure that relevant sectoral policies are considered with territorial management instruments; ensure the elaboration and promotion of the implementation of the national geographic information management policy in the areas of geodesy, cartography, land registry, urban and rural; promote, in collaboration with other central and local government bodies, the oversight of territorial plans, etc.
