This Decree-Law enters into force the day after its publication.
Abstract

This Decree-Law creates (in the enclosed Annex) the Institution for Marine Research I.P. (IMAR). The Annex, consisting of 42 articles divided into eight Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Institute entitled to perform the following activities: promote and coordinate applied scientific research (fisheries research) and technological development, including knowledge transfer, innovation and provision of expert and advisory services in the maritime domain and its resources, ensuring the implementation of national strategies and policies in their areas of activity, contributing to economic and social development. IMAR is invested in the functions of National Technical Authority in the field of Fisheries Research, particularly in the areas of Oceanography, Marine and Fisheries Biology, Mariculture, Fisheries Technology Development and Statistics. In addition, it regulates the organizational structure, as well as financial and patrimonial economic management, personnel, under the General Regime of the Institutes approved by Law No. 92/VIII/2015 of 13 July.
