Abstract This Decree-Law, consisting of 11 Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes the legal framework of tourist enterprises. It establishes the requirements to be satisfied by touristic infrastructures in order to benefit from the necessary authorizations to perform touristic activity, under the Central Tourist Administration. It also classifies the touristic categorization, given the quality of service and facilities, the tourist Information System, exploitation and operation, and the property in tourist enterprises, establishing the system of monitoring, penalties and fees, in relation to the Statute of the Hospitality Industry and its regulations, approved respectively by Decree-Law No. 14/94 of 14 March and by Decree No. 4/94 of 14 March.
