With due regard to the agricultural land redistribution policy, the Decree-Law grants the same categories of beneficiaries full ownership of that land provided that they have farmed it effectively and rationally for a period of not less than 7 years from the date it was allocated to them. The owners shall be entitled to transfer their land 15 years after acquiring their deed of ownership and in so doing, shall abide by the rules prescribed in the Decree-Law. These rules determine the price of the transaction, the terms of payment, as well as the minimum size of plot that may be sold. Full text Portuguese
