Abstract This Decree-Law, consisting of 8 Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes the legal framework for tourist activity within rural areas. It establishes the requirements to be satisfied in order to perform touristic activity within rural areas, different types of lodging, activities, including in particular the activities and establishments in rural areas related to services delivery and management of facilities, provision of food in functional spaces of rural accommodation, organization and promotion of visits to farms, promotion the experience and practices of the rural environment, and the dissemination and promotion of manifestations in rural areas, including the hosting services in rural areas under agri-tourism, holiday countryside, rural hotels, housing and tourism village tourism, and setting up the general conditions of installation, functional requirements, the rules of the accommodation units, installation and operation, the sanctions regime and the respective rates.
