Abstract This Decree-Law, consisting of 5 Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes the objective and principles of the National System for Food Control (SNCA). It deals with the organization, composition, competencies and functioning of the integrating organisms of the above mentioned System. It also lays down the SNCA’s coordinating structures, entitled to carry out controls on food for human consumption and animal feed, which are produced in the country, imported and exported, at all the production phases, processing, transformation and distribution of these food and animal feed products. The Annex lists the composition of the institutional coordinating structure.
