Abstract

This Decree-Law establishes the conditions and procedures relating to the adoption and presentation of the fishing logbook in fishing operations. It applies to all fishing vessels duly licensed by the competent authority, classified as semi-industrial and industrial fishing vessels, flying the Cape Verde flag, regardless of the waters in which they operate. Unless otherwise provided for in fishing agreements and/or arrangements, it also applies to chartered and/or foreign vessels, duly licensed, operating in waters under national jurisdiction. This Decree-Law does not apply to fishing vessels dedicated to artisanal, sport and experimental fishing. Artisanal fishers, voluntarily and optionally, may present the fishing diary, in accordance with the terms of this legislation. Without prejudice to what is stipulated by law, captains of semi-industrial and industrial fishing vessels must keep fishing diaries relating to their operations with a specific indication of all quantities of each species caught, and kept on board, exceeding 50 kilograms.
