Abstract This Decree-Law approves the General Regulation for vessels' safety and registration. This Regulation, consisting of 26 Chapters, establishes terms and conditions to be satisfied, under the Basic Law Maritime Safety and the Law on the prevention of sea pollution, the necessary technical regulation to vessels' safety, their registration and certification requirements, the maritime activities and the related areas matters under the competence of the Maritime and Harbour Institute of Sao Tomé e Príncipe (IMAPSTP). The technical specific regulation for traditional and recreational vessels registration, prescribed in art. 35, will be established by Ministerial Joint Order of the Maritime and Harbour Institute of Sao Tomé e Príncipe.
