Decree-Law No. 294/91 approving the Statute of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

This Decree-Law approves the Statute of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The said Statute consists of 4 chapters and 1 table specifying the composition, duties and compentencies of this environmental institution which shall be entitled to: a) Promote and cooperate in the enforcement of national policies on environment and natural resources; b) Cooperate with governmental authority in the enforcement of EC policies on environmental and food consumer protection; c) Protect environment, preserve wildlife ecosystems and natural heritage; d) Draw-up a national strategy for wildlife conservation; e) Prevent and avoid environmental disasters due to industrial activity, etc.
