This Decree-Law enters into force the day after its publication.
Abstract

This Decree-Law creates the Port Institution of the North - IPN ('Instituto Portuário do Norte') under the Ministry of Land Planning and extinguishes the Autonomous Association of the Northern Ports ('Junta Autónoma dos Portos do Norte'). It consists of 13 articles and 1 annex establishing composition, competencies and duties of this institution settled in 'Viana do Castelo'. IPN manages those ports under its jurisdictional area, in order to perform harbour economic exploitaion, conservation and development (including for land facilities). It shall carry out controls on port activities and shall draw up plans for a better port exploitation.
