This Decree-Law enters into force on the day after its publication.
Abstract

This Decree-Law, establishes an extraordinary and temporary support, through salary compensation, to fisherfolks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, it establishes an allocation of wage compensation, as follows: to small-scale fishing professionals referred to in Article 3(14) of Regulation (EU) No. 508/2014 of 15 May, on the European Fund for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, wage compensation is provided, as far as, under the terms of the present legislation: a) the obstacles to the exercise of the work are proven, resulting from a record of loss of fish value equal to or greater than 40% compared to the same period of the previous two years; or b) difficulty in recruiting crews due to hygienic isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic is proven. The amount of wage compensation to be attributed is calculated according to the criteria provided for in Article 5 of Decree-Law No. 311/99 of 10 August. The provisions of this article also apply, with the necessary adaptations: a) to nurseries, individual holders of aquaculture exploration licenses with production declaration in one of the last two years; b) fishermen licensed for inland fishing and catchers, holders of a valid license, when exercising the activity on an exclusive basis.
